Going Green

 

One of my goals this year was to go green. What does that entitle?  I want to live a healthier lifestyle.  Maybe it’s because I’m getting older now (I’m no longer in my 20’s, sigh) and it is putting a lot of pressure on me to look after myself by eating right, sleeping earlier and using products that makes me feel and look good.

Eating healthy starts with cooking more at home and prepping my meals for each week so I can control the portions I consume each meal as well as I know what goes in to the meals I cook.  I’ve been following a few vegan blogs to help me get started and experimenting with all kinds of greens I get from the grocery store. I’m not completely vegan but I working towards it. I am a pescatarian, so it wont be hard to get there. I am finally using my blender that I received from my mother a year ago to juice leftover veggies with avocado, flax seeds, almond milk and honey for breakfast. For snacks, I love to have a variety of fruits. I like to purchase different tropical fruits every week to change it up. (Mmm.. I wish it was honey pomelo and watermelon season all year round.)

Another thing that my mom and my ex-boyfriends nag me about is my lack of sleep. I don’t sleep much. Truthfully, I sleep about 5-6 hours a day. I know it isn’t healthy but in those 5-6 hours, I become completely paralyzed and unresponsive when I knock out (I sleep through the most vicious thunderstorms and the loudest music). Thankfully, I am able to sleep instantly

anywhere and any time (but it isn’t good while I’m driving long distances). On the regular, I go to bed at 1-2am and wake up at 8am with my built-in alarm inside my body.

I have been doing a lot of research on natural essential oils to help with my hair growth, face and body remedy.  My hair is very thin and it breaks very easily from numerous bleaching sessions I had done when I was blonde so it hasn’t grown a long since I changed my hair colour. At the moment, I am massaging jojoba and lemon oil into my scalp once a week for 2 hours before I shampoo my hair.  I will need to try the castor oil as it is the main ingredient for hair growth products.  If you have any helpful tips on this, do share with me.

Jojoba is the best oil ever! It is a pure and natural plant extract that penetrates and moisturizes skin without leaving an oily residue. It is closest to skin’s natural sebum so it moisturizes where it’s needed most and less where you don’t. I use this amazing oil everyday to remove makeup, cleanse clogged pores, and nourish my hair and scalp.
